woo hoo. no homework tonight. okay, well, actually, i have economics homework, but i have two study halls before economics tomorrow, so i think i'll just procrastinate and do it then.
NHS tomorrow morning at 7:15. i just love getting up early. i mean, seriously, who needs sleep when you can be attending stupid meetings for the national honor society? apparently, NHS isn't just a test of whether or not you can get good grades and do community service, but also whether or not you can function at the crack of dawn. woo hoo, go me!! yeah for community service. so when i end up getting arrested for something, i will have no problems working my time off in community service hours. look, i'm not being an overachiever, i'm just practicing for the future.
also, good news for me, my laryngitis is getting better. now i can actually talk a little. its about the volume of a whisper, but i'm working on it. baby steps. well, nothing much is happening, so later
| okay, i find myself really frustrated right now. especially if the C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. meeting on friday doesn't go the way i need it to.
okay, so here's the deal. ms stimpson and mrs fehland have decided that meetings this year will be mandatory. that's not a problem, i went to most of them last year. the only ones i didn't go to were ones that i didn't know were scheduled until it was too late. the problem is, ms stimpson mentioned that some of the meetings would be during activity period this year. why do we have to change such a good system?? i have 3 other clubs that already meet during activity period; there's no way i can make it to a C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. meeting too. but if i don't go to the meetings during activity period, then i might miss more meetings than is allotted, and i'll be kicked out of the club. so, to sum it up, i'm gonna be penalized for being involved. how does that make sense? i mean, i was an active member of C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. last year, and now i might be refused membership just because i'm already involved in Interact, French Club, S.E.A., and NHS. thankfully, Interact doesn't meet during activity period. i mean, i have to go to NHS meetings. i mean, c'mon, its NHS. colleges look at that as an important club to belong to. its an honor to be accepted into NHS. i have to make an appearance at French Club meetings, as i'm President. S.E.A., well, i didn't go to any meetings last year, so i think i can skive those off. but still, that doesn't leave me time to go to C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. during that hour. i'm sorry, but i have my priorities straight, and the clubs that allow leeway for those of us that are actually involved in clubs at school are gonna be the clubs i favor. if ms stimpson and mrs fehland want to make it so i can't be in C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. all year, then i just don't have to help the club at all this year. i don't owe C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. anything. i have scholarships riding on NHS, and French Club has been a part of my life for 4 years now, not to mention i have a major role in the club. i'm to the point where if ms stimpson and mrs fehland want to penalize me for actually taking a part in my school and community, then let them. i don't need C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. to get into college, and i certainly won't cry over not belonging to it. i mean, i know that a lot of the seniors are in the club for the service hours for NHS, but i'm not. i proved that last year. so why should i be punished? why?
okay, i feel a lot better now. writing really can act as a kind of therapy. it didn't improve my situation, but getting it out in the open really calmed me down. my only hope is that only 2 or 3 C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. meetings are scheduled for activity period, and ms stimpson and mrs fehland let us miss 3 meetings before they kick us out. then i'll be happy, cuz i can still belong to everything. i can only hope.
| okay, so this totally sux. i have no voice, as in laryngitis. that's right, jenny has laryngitis. second time in my life. first time was last december, while i was in Antarctica, just for the record.
hmm, not a lot of homework tonight. just psychology. that's a good thing. i got a test over the first half of Great Expectations tomorrow in Briggs' class. i'm sure i'm not gonna do too well on that, but oh well. i'll try my best. i did good on all the tests and quizzes i had today, so maybe i'll luck out tomorrow too.
C.A.P.T.A.I.N.S. meeting tomorrow morning, 7:30 a.m. that'll be better than my Interact meeting this morning at 7:15 and my NHS meeting thursday morning at 7:15. obviously, somewhere along the line, these teachers got the impression that i like getting up before noon. wish they'd get their facts straight. when i say i like the morning, i mean the time after midnight that is before i fall asleep around 2.
uhg, the three-day weekend is getting closer. i'm assuming i'll also have a lot of homework over the weekend, but heh, i'll survive. well, i gotta go try and find a way to get my voice back. later
| ug, i am in sooo much pain right now. my muscles ache from PE, and now my shoulders hurt because i was outside for four hours at the Interact carwash on Saturday, and i am so incredibly burnt. its not even funny anymore. i mean, my skin is so hot, i think i gave my fingers 2nd degree burns just by touching my shoulders. oh, and since i'm in pain whenever my skin touches something, sleeping has become very difficult.
well, i have homework i should be doing, so i guess i'll complain more later.
| okay, well here's what my day looked like:
1st per: Intro to Psych/Study Hall. had study hall with Knobloch today, first hour, as its tues, and my psych class only meets on monday, wednesday and friday. honestly, what does a person do in first hour study hall on the first day of school?? i dunno anything about the psych class, other than its taught by Palinski, whom i've yet to meet. i guess i'll know more tomorrow.
2nd per: Accounting. there's only 7 people in this class. nice and small. keirstin absher is the only other girl in the class, and we're stuck with people like alex senesac, travis peters, steve richards, and mitch hoffman. yuck. dunno what they're doing in that class. Ms. Talmadge is nice, young, and just out of college, i think.
3rd per: French IV. eww. just what i needed. its a combined french III/ french IV class, so there's 7 IV's and 6 III's. meh. not much else to say about this class. i'm one of the french club co-presidents though, if that does anything for ya.
4th per: AP Senior English. okay, so this might be my hardest class this year. okay, more than might, i guarantee you it will be, cuz i'll actually have to do some work in this class. good ole Mr. Briggs, same as always, referring to himself as God in class. that's always nice on the first day.
5th per: Study Hall. woo hoo. another study hall, this time with Ms. Eckersley, the new PE teacher. Once again, I had nothing to do but sit there. Mr. McCoy is gonna get me a permanent pass out of my study halls, though, I asked him after school. but the library doesn't open until next monday, so i find myself stuck in the cramped study hall. oh well.
6th per: Economics. well, i finally cross paths with Dexter. this class seems to be okay; i mean, the material doesn't sound like it will be too hard, and i get to learn how to do taxes and such in the class. and its only a semester class. that always helps. i do hope the weather cools down soon, as we're stuck in that room across from the study hall and Mr. Rezba's room, which is always hot and crowded.
7th per: PE. ah, PE. without Mrs. Thomas. our new PE teacher is Ms. Eckersley, and she's short (my height), young and blonde. i think she's gonna go harder on us then Thomas ever did. other than that, she seems okay.
well, that's my day. we'll see how tomorrow goes.
